Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking a Graduate Recruiting/Admissions professional to support the Smith College of Engineering and Technology. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, this role plays a key part in shaping the graduate student experience-from first inquiry through graduation. The Graduate Recruiting/Admissions professional serves as a primary point of contact for prospective and current students, guiding them through application, admission, registration, and advising processes. This position also leads outreach and recruitment efforts, supports new student orientations, and helps plan and execute meaningful events such as graduate celebrations and the hooding ceremony. Summary of Responsibilities
- Recruitment: Informs students, faculty, and public of graduate degree services available; answers incoming requests for information; works with prospective students and coordinates the preparation and submission of application materials; attends graduate fairs and other graduate program events; prepares and distributes marketing materials
- Admission: Coordinates, facilitates, and monitors the applications, including follow up with partially completed applications; ensures applicants' files are complete and meet minimum university admissions requirements for admissions consideration; works with program coordinators, Office of Admissions, Office of Graduate Studies, and academic advising during the admissions and registration processes; admits into the program students who have been approved by the graduate program committee and meets minimum university admissions requirement
- Advisement: Assists students in the development of course completion plans; tracks student performance and progression toward graduation; guides students to needed interventions and networking opportunities; consults with academic departments regarding the development of graduation plans; communicate graduation application dates.
- Events: Plans and executes graduate events, such as program orientation and kickoff events, socials, showcases, and graduation hooding ceremonies; attends and supports convocation for graduate program students. Other: Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus one year of work experience related to the position duties; OR any combination of education and work experience related to the position duties totaling five years.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution
Academic advising or admissions experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of best practices in events, communications, correspondence, and appropriate matters of etiquette in various settings.
- Knowledge of higher education student advisement, retention, and program completion principles.
- Knowledge of graduate courses and prerequisites.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Banner, Recruit, and other software essentials to the duties
- Skills in office methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
- Skills in the preparation and interpretation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective analytical skills to collect, compile, analyze, and evaluate information
- Ability to plan and anticipate potential changes and act accordingly.
- Ability to follow oral and written procedures and instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
