Job Description:


Massasoit Community College invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Humanities and Communication Arts Division specializing in Theatrical Movement, Theatre Design, and Stagecraft. Teaching modalities may include in-person, Online (Canvas), Hybrid, or Video Conference (Zoom). Faculty work collaboratively to build community and create a learner centered environment focused on student learning and success. Teaching approaches are expected to include active and collaborative techniques and promote global learning.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Essential functions
  • Build an active and collaborative environment for student learning
  • Plan and implement syllabus and course content for students
  • Provide consistent feedback
  • Evaluate achievement
  • Manage online grading system
  • Assign grades
  • Maintain student records of attendance, participation, grades, etc.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in instructional development and orientation
  • Participate in department and college wide activities
  • Collaborate with theatre faculty on curriculum and extra curricular projects
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions

Adjunct Faculty are part time instructors hired on an as needed basis. Positions may consist of day, night, or weekend positions and may be in Brockton, Canton, Middleborough, or any other instructional site.

Requirements:


  • Master's degree or higher in theatre or a related field; or a bachelor's degree with 18 graduate hours in Theatre, Dance or related field or, five years' experience in a practical theatre, or educational institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a community college setting or high school students
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and other remote learning technology

COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: Candidates for employment should be aware that all Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated by January 2022. Accordingly, initial employment is dependent upon receipt and verification of full vaccination status records; details of how to fulfill vaccine record verification requirements will be provided during the hire and onboarding process.

Semester: Academic Year Fall 2021 and Spring 2022

Salary: $1,132 per credit, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites.
