Position Summary: The Admission Recruiter is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of diverse and qualified students through a consultative sales approach. The Admission Recruiter manages an assigned geographic recruitment territory, communicates with prospective students to move them through the admission and enrollment process, and attends numerous on- and off-campus events in support of the Admission Office. Serve as the face of the College to prospective students, parents, and other influencers in the college selection process by providing informational and promotional presentations. This position builds relationships with prospects, engages them in the community of JCCC, and connects them with resources as needed.

Evening and weekend work is required, including six to eight weeks of intense travel each fall. Participates in the training of first year admission recruiters and student workers. Works with colleagues in documenting office policies, practices, work flows, and project including the creation or maintenance of job-related workflow documents, job aids, business practice and training guides

Required Qualifications: Associates Degree. Attention to detail, interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of student information required. Must be able to able to articulate messages clearly and concisely both in public and on the telephone, work occasional irregular hours including evenings and weekends, and work independently and contribute as a member of a team. Prior experience with public speaking as evidenced by coursework, volunteer activities, or job experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field. Experience working with college students. Graduate of JCCC and/or knowledge of the academic programs and support services offered at JCCC. Ability to communicate in a language other than English preferred. Experience working in the admission office at a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • NEW STUDENT RECRUITMENT - Identifies opportunities and builds long-term partnerships and relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other external organizations, stakeholders and influencers through visits and outreach activities i.e. workshops and presentations. Actively sell/promote JCCC based on the prospective student's individual needs. Manage a recruitment territory that is specific to a certain geographical region and/or population of students. Collaborate with campus departments that align with recruitment goals. Maintain current knowledge of JCCC's academic, extra-curricular, and financial aid programs, and articulate the College's mission to prospective students. Research and resolve barriers to enrollment to assist students through the process. Appropriately refer students to other departments on campus as needed to facilitate student connections with resources. Provide instruction, guidance, and assistance to students regarding the enrollment process, college policies, and tools needed to navigate their college path. Introduce students to available campus resources to facilitate student learning and empower students to successfully engage in their college experience. Assist Recruitment Coordinator as needed.
  • COMMUNICATION FOLLOW-UP - Maintain a steady flow of communication via email, traditional mail, and phone calls to prospective and applied students in order to establish a relationship between the student and JCCC. Use communication tools to make certain that no important application steps or deadlines are missed. provide information concerning educational opportunities, scholarships, and more. Recognize the impact of communication opportunities and effectively guides and shapes the development, delivery and timing of messages to maximize influence and effectiveness with different target audiences. Provide on-campus meetings with prospective students.
  • ASSIST WITH ADMISSION EVENTS - Develops and implements specific recruitment projects and management tasks as assigned. Manages, plans, and coordinates special recruitment events as assigned. Participates in on-campus programs for prospective students and families. Participate, develop and enhance campus visit programs, and collaborate with campus departments that align with recruitment goals.
  • COLLABORATE EFFECTIVELY AND PROFESSIONALLY WITH CO-WORKERS AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS - Handle inquiries from other departments with a congenial attitude, promoting a positive teamwork atmosphere. Demonstrate familiarity with other departments' staff to best direct student inquiries.
