Job Description:
This position will lead University Extended Campus efforts to connect with previously enrolled MSU,Mankato students and transfer students for the purpose of successful degree completion by those students. This position is an active member of the University Extended Campus team and proactively engages with previously enrolled students and transfer students on community college partner sites by establishing meaningful connections, demonstrating care, coordinating support, and assisting in removing individual barriers to success. The position manages and provides initial advising services and implements student-first practices that advance student equity, retention, completion, and success. This position is a liaison to and resource for faculty, staff, and administrators within University Extended Campus, and for the community college partnership programs in coordination with Director of Transfer Partnerships. This position leads and supports projects and initiatives within University Extended Campus and across the university focused on degree completion and student success in coordination with the Director of Transfer Partnerships and the Director of ONLINE. The position serves as an advising expert and student success resource for University Extended Campus and the community college partnership programs with extensive knowledge of college, university, and Minnesota State system academic and student policies, procedures, and practices. Additionally, this position utilizes degree planning and completion tools with knowledge of university systems, processes, and resources to advance student success.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).

  • Minimum of three years working in higher education - college or university - experience in academic advising and/or student support areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle and process sensitive and confidential information..

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated abilities to communicate effectively with many different constituents - including students, faculty, staff, administrators.

  • Demonstrated commitment to students with diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to, students of color, LGBTQ+ students, first generation students, students with disabilities, and/or international students.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

  • Masters degree in educational leadership, student affairs/development or other related major.

  • Knowledge of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum.

  • Professional academic advising experience;

  • Working knowledge of student development and student life concerns;

  • Evidence of successful experience working with a wide variety of student support services;

  • Ability to interpret and implement University academic policies related to student academic standing, progressing, and completion.

Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work modes: Mobile Work: A position where the employee travels continuously for work, or who performs work at multiple locations outside of an agency office, such as a field location or other site.
