Job Description:

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The NYC Regional Admissions Specialist will assist the office of admissions with recruitment and counseling of prospective students, specifically from New York, Long Island and other select metropolitan areas.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively articulate the mission, vision and values of GCC to prospective students, their families, and school counselors.
Communicate accurate information to prospective students, their families, and school counselors about GCC.
Maintain knowledge of financial resources available to students.
Refer prospective students to communicate with an on-campus admissions professional or appropriate campus resource when appropriate.
Represent GCC at NYC, Long Island and other select downstate recruitment events.
Maintain and report on recruitment activities.
Other duties as assigned in an effort to support the College and departmental goals.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree required.

Experience
Three years' experience (or five with an Associate's) working with students is required, with preference given for specific experience in the areas of college admissions, recruitment, advisement, counseling or campus life.

Special Skills
Strong verbal skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
Demonstrated understanding of community college role
Commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students
Is mindful of and develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.
