The State University of New York College of Optometry invites applications for an Assistant Director of Admissions. The incumbent will report to the Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management.


Description of Responsibilities:



    • Work closely with the Director of Admissions, College Registrar, Director of Financial Aid, and Information Technology to ensure accurate, secure, and timely data entry into the Student Information System.

    • Assist with day-to-day admissions functions, including, but not limited to, fielding prospective applicant inquiries, processing applications, coordinating applicant Interview Days, assist in recruitment events (on campus and off campus).

    • Conduct 1:1 application consultation sessions with prospective applicants.

    • Present information sessions to audiences on-campus, off-campus, and virtually, and serve as a resource for campus visitors on a regular basis.

    • Act as a liaison between the Office of Admissions and the Admissions Committee members.

    • Oversee joint degree program affiliations with undergraduate campuses.

    • Ensure the Admissions Office print, video, and online media needs are met and consistent with the College standards.

    • Develop and execute a social media marketing plan, creating engaging content for prospective students through video, photography, and other interactive content. Manage student workers and identify new opportunities and best practices for social media and digital marketing channels.

    • Provide editorial support and creative input for email and print communications and the admissions website. Work with the Director of Admissions to create personalized, integrated marketing campaigns.

    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.



Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Travel

  • Experience working in a similar capacity within higher education or another related industry/position

  • Must be organized, an excellent presenter, communicator, and collaborator, and able to work with overlapping project deadlines.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with admissions staff and colleagues across campus and work well as part of a team.

  • Skill and sensitivity to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion as they affect the college admissions process

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in MS Office Suite.



Preferred Requirements:


  • Master's degree


Compensation: Minimum salary $65,000 commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package. 15 days of annual leave to start and 13 paid holidays per year. We are a qualifying employer in the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. View our Benefits at a Glance.
