Job Description:

Department: Admissions Office

Appointment: 12 month, Full Time APG Grade 5

Reports to: Director of Admissions

Location: Dual Campus

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director will serve as a key member of the Admissions team, supporting overall enrollment goals of the College and SUNY. The Assistant Director of Admissions will provide leadership for the admissions processing and recruitment of special populations.

General Functions:

  • Participate in recruitment efforts; promoting Cayuga as an ideal choice to prospective students.
  • Review applications for admission and recommends admissions decisions as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and leadership for all aspects of the admissions process, including but not limited to file review, placement testing, financial aid;
  • Provide leadership for enrollment efforts for special populations: Prison Education, ASAP, EOP, Adult Learners
  • Serve as Designated School Official (DSO), managing the international admissions process and serving as contact for international students;
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student ambassador role to support admission efforts.
  • Lead event planning and execution for Admissions events including; Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, campus tours, and specialized recruitment events
  • Work collaboratively with Financial Aid, faculty, and the college foundation to college support scholarship program.
  • Maintain a mastery of computer programs and software to assist with student enrollment processes, including but not limited to Banner, Argos, OnBase, Mainstay, Slate and external data sources (ex., NRCURRA)
  • Monitor best practices and trends in student recruitment and admissions to support improvements to college process.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline required; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of higher education admissions experience; Experience in admissions at a community college preferred.
  • Experience with international student admissions or international student services is required. Proficiency in a foreign language preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate processes and offer recommendations for improvement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively toward enrollment goals.
  • Proficient working in computer and database knowledge; Experience with Slate preferred.
  • Leadership experience, including personnel supervision, planning, and budgeting
