The College of Arts & Letters seeks an Academic Specialist to serve as College Recruitment and Citizen Scholars Program Coordinator. This fixed-term, annual year position will lead College recruitment and coordinate the Citizen Scholars Program, which aims to recruit and retain a diverse student body, as they develop the competencies needed to foster a more inclusive, just, and open society.

Position Summary:
The College of Arts & Letters seeks a fixed-term, annual-year Academic Specialist to serve as College Recruitment and Citizen Scholars Program Coordinator. Citizen Scholars is an undergraduate enrichment program that aims to recruit and retain a diverse student body, supporting them as they develop the competencies needed to foster a more inclusive, just, and open society. The coordinator works closely with the program director to guide Citizen Scholars students in meeting program requirements, facilitating their engagement in co-curricular opportunities and experiential learning, reviewing student progress, participating in the development of assessment materials, and assisting with student-driven initiatives related to the program. The coordinator supervises student interns on program communications and collects, coordinates, and maintains a database of student research and community engagement opportunities.

Collaborating with College Student Affairs and the Admissions office, the recruitment coordinator works to attract and retain a diverse student population for the College and its majors. This involves participation in planning and implementation of campus programs aimed at the recruitment of prospective students, including Green and White Days, Alumni Distinguished Scholarship days, College Visit days, Spartan Club, college fairs, high school visits, and other university recruitment functions. The coordinator works with colleagues on New Student Orientation and admitted student communication and yield activities, and assists with pre-college programs.

The position may begin as early as January 1, 2023.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, humanities, arts, or liberal
arts, required. A commitment to student success and experiential education is essential.
Excellent written, oral, and dynamic presentation communication skills are essential. Energetic personality and strong work ethic are necessary.
Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on long term planning and implementation are vital to the success of the applicant.
Technical skills in word-processing, database management, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and social media/communications.
Commitment to team-building, respectful collaboration, self-reflection, student enrichment, and arts/humanities based engagements with social justice and inclusion.
Desired Qualifications
Well prepared candidates will have at least 1-3 years of full-time work in advising or student affairs. Experience working with community organizations
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population, faculty, and staff.

Salary Range
Baseline salary (UNTF-pegged, AN version): $67,250

Citizen Scholars Advising (25%)
Advise CAL majors and applicable minors on Citizen Scholars program, with focus on research and community engagement, including course options, research positions, and overall preparation/participation
Coordinate recruitment into the program, administer and record progress of individual students, including coordination with financial officers on scholarships
Work actively with CAL academic advisors and Excel Network team to support and prepare students for Citizen Scholars
Develop and administer CAL advisor workshops focused on supporting students interested in research and community engagement
Supervise student interns and peer mentoring program
Work actively with the Director of Citizen Scholars to collect research and community
engagement opportunities and match with student interests.

Curriculum (15%)
Assist with development and implementation of pre- and post- research and community
engagement program assessment strategy
Assist with development and implementation of curriculum mapping/integration strategy for
non-credit research and community engagement projects

Outreach (15%)
Coordinate communications strategy for Citizen Scholars program
Work actively with Citizen Scholars Director to establish and maintain relationships with
community partners
Maintain database of research and community engagement opportunities and student stories
Collaborate with Citizen Scholars and Excel Network team on events and programming,
particularly those related to research and community engagement

CAL Recruitment (40%)
Participate in planning and implementation of campus programs aimed at the recruitment of
prospective students, including Green and White Days, Alumni Distinguished Scholarship days, College Visit days, Spartan Club, college fairs, high school visits, and other university recruitment functions. These will include creation of new programming designed to attract and retain diverse student populations in College majors.
Work with college units and the Office of Admission on recruitment of new students. This will include significant travel.
Organize recruitment events such as prospective student visits and visit days at the College level. Work with chairs, directors, and associate chairs to develop and implement a robust recruitment plan.
Coordinate with university advising efforts to recruit majors into College.
Coordinate New Student Orientation for the College in collaboration with college-wide
colleagues, including College presentations.
Coordinate all admitted student communication and yield activities. Work closely with the
Marketing and Communications team.
Assist with pre-college programs, including bridge summer programs, and general administrative responsibilities.
Manage recruitment budget with Associate Dean.

Other (5%)
Participate in appropriate professional development.
Participate in College and University events such as Commencement, Convocation, Colloquium, New Student Orientation Programs, and other functions.
