Position Description
Determines student applicants' admissibility to Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine (TTU SVM). Evaluates transcripts and student applications. Advises potential students on admission requirements and admissions process.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Counsels and advises students and families about educational opportunities, admission, scholarships, financial assistance, and university policies and requirements.
  • Participates in school visitations and college programs for prospective students; coordinates on-site admissions events at 4-year universities, two-year institutions, and high schools; represents the university in its recruitment efforts and in providing special outreach services in the community and state.
  • Acts as liaison with various constituencies including students, parents, high school and two-year school officials, faculty, academic departments and colleges, and alumni.
  • Assists with administration of scholarships.
  • Maintains scholarship database for all prospective and current students.
  • Works closely with the Scholarships Committee to determine each students eligibility and criteria.
  • Maintains communication via telephone, correspondence, and/or electronic mail with prospective students through all stages of the recruitment, admission, and enrollment process.
  • Utilizes computerized systems to communicate with students, process admissions, prepare reports, and/or analyze data.
  • Participates in the Admissions Committee, Scholarships Committee, and state and regional professional organizations such as the Texas Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (TAAHP).
  • Assists with the formulation, development, and implementation of admissions-related policies and procedures.
  • Assists with updating the admissions and scholarship websites.
  • Assists with processing enrollment documentation.
  • Assists with student orientation, white coat ceremony, and graduation.
  • Assists with Student Ambassador Program.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with demonstrated related experience; valid driver's license. Promote and foster the Core Values of the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong sense of self-accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Presentation skills and ability to work with individuals as well as large groups.
  • Availability for evening and weekend work and extensive overnight travel.
  • Computer proficiency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (or similar) and willingness to learn and work with new software applications.
  • 2 years experience in admissions, student services, or related higher education settings.
  • Familiarity with admissions-based technology.
  • Multilingual.
