The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GRS) at Boston University is the largest and most diverse graduate unit on campus. The Assistant Dean of Masters Admissions is responsible for directing all aspects of vision & strategy, admissions, financial aid, marketing, and growth of revenue-generating master's programs in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GRS). Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Assistant Dean works closely with Department Chairs, Master's Program Directors, Program Coordinators, and the Graduate Affairs team in the Office of the Provost to meet and/or exceed enrollment targets. The Assistant Dean will build and execute a master's enrollment strategy, in collaboration with the master's staff in GRS, for the school, consisting of well-defined marketing, recruitment, scholarship, and yield plans. The Assistant Dean will manage a team of GRS staff dedicated to master's programs admissions, marketing, and financial aid.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences meets and/or exceeds its annual master's enrollment targets. To do this, the Assistant Dean will work with departments and programs to create and execute recruitment and yield strategies. This role will be responsible for managing data analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Creates and manages a scholarship discount policy based on past enrollment trends and future growth. The goal is to continuously yield high-quality students while meeting and/or surpassing enrollment targets. Specific attention should be given to yield modeling by program. Develops and implements strategic discounting models to improve yield rates and reduce enrollment melt.
  • Identifies areas of new master's program growth along with the Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. This involves understanding the College's departments and programs and undertaking market research when necessary.
  • Attends all University-wide meetings related to graduate enrollment management, master's program growth, and graduate admission.
  • Responsible for managing GRS staff dedicated to master's programs admissions, marketing, and financial aid, currently a staff of five.


Required Skills
  • Masters Degree and substantial experience with, and progressive responsibility over, graduate enrollment management at the masters level, including the creation and execution of recruitment practices, yield strategies, and tuition discounting models.
  • Comprehensive understanding of graduate education and its complexities in todays marketplace, particularly in an arts and sciences environment
  • Experience with admission and recruitment software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, in addition to an outstanding ability to problem-solve and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed
