Assistant Director, Enrollment Growth and Student Professional Advancement

Summary:
William Paterson invites application for the full-time position of Assistant Director, Enrollment Growth and Student Professional Advancement.

Reporting to the Dean, Cotsakos College of Business, the Assistant Director, Enrollment Growth and Student Professional Advancement, is responsible for leading the efforts to grow enrollment for the graduate programs, and supporting the growth and expansion of the College's Professional Enrichment program.

The Assistant Director develops and implements strategies to recruit, select and yield highly competitive students working in collaboration with the respective graduate program directors.

Duties:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads efforts to grow enrollment of high-caliber, diverse students into the Colleges graduate programs by developing and implementing strategies to recruit, select and yield highly competitive students. These tasks will be carried out in collaboration with the respective graduate program directors (if applicable) and will include, but are not limited to:


    1. working in collaboration with the Marketing team to identify target markets and create strategies for attracting high-caliber applicants; and ensuring a high degree of alignment between Marketing, Recruiting, and Admissions teams through clear, frequent, and open communication
    2. building relationships, and forging partnerships, with regional businesses, non-profits, hospitals, social service agencies, professional associations, economic development agencies, and similar entities, to build awareness of, and enrollment in colleges graduate programs
    3. driving recruitment, admission and yield management of prospective graduate students by hosting events, conducting online and in-person information sessions, identifying and pursuing untapped opportunities such as corporate visits and engaging alumni, participating in, and supporting, social media strategy for the graduate programs targeting prospective/admitted students, alumni, and corporate partners
    4. working with the department chairs and other WP offices to address student grievances, curricular issues, and related academic matters
    5. assisting the Assurance of Learning (AOL) Coordinator with assessment of the graduate programs within the framework of relevant AACSB standards.
  • Supports the growth and expansion of the Colleges student Professional Enrichment (PE) program by leading all aspects of the PE program including:
    1. strengthening existing relationships, and developing new relationships, with corporate, alumni, and other key stakeholders
    2. developing and administering a portfolio of co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities based on best practices and focused on enhancing the career development, technology, communication and other soft (essential professional) skills of students
    3. assisting students with the process of identifying, acquiring and completing appropriate co- curricular and experiential learning opportunities that meet their individual preferences and goals
    4. collaborating with other departments such as the Career Development Center to effectively market co-curricular and experiential learning through outreach programming to faculty, current and prospective students, area businesses, not-for-profit associations, chambers of commerce and other stakeholders
    5. implementing methods to assess students needs, interests and performance in the PE program, and track stakeholder engagement in, and the results of, PE activities
    6. monitoring student progress with co-curricular and experiential learning activities, alerting the Associate Dean of issues that may merit intervention, and working with the Career Development Center and the Registrar's Office to get student co-curricular and experiential learning activities properly recognized
    7. promoting positive PE experiences for students in their chosen activities, through follow-up activities with students, faculty advisors and participating organizations
    8. overseeing the maintenance of accurate records of student information including maintaining up- to-date written guidelines outlining procedures to be used: application and qualification processes, course/work schedules, date/calendar/deadlines, standard forms (job descriptions and liability agreements), outlines of expectations/requirements for students, employers, advisers, and administrators
    9. evaluating the PE program and implementing appropriate improvements.


  • Manages and supports the Colleges website and social media accounts to increase the Colleges online presence by keeping content and design current and facilitating effective Web-based communication with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Represents the University at meetings, conferences, or events and conducts presentations, etc. regarding program offerings.

  • Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position.


  • Qualifications:
    Required qualifications

    • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Appropriate fields of study include business, marketing, psychology, communications, public relations, student affairs, or other related majors.
    • Three (3) years progressively responsible program administration experience in higher education.
    • Track record of successful recruitment and enrollment outcomes.
    • Track record engaging diverse student populations in co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities that were collaboratively developed through partnerships with stakeholders such as faculty, student organizations, industry, NGOs, professional organizations, and governmental entities.
    • Proficiency in Information Technology, Web Development, Data Analysis, Microsoft Suite, and Educational Technology either through academic or professional experience.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend assignments.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Masters degree
    • Experience delivering effective and engaging presentations
