Job Summary

CU Boulder is seeking applications for the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for Enrollment Management! This position plays a strategic and integral role in the development, execution and oversight of comprehensive marketing plans and tactics aligned with the goals of the Enrollment Management Division and aimed at attracting and engaging students throughout the recruitment funnel and journey with the units in Enrollment Management. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management Marketing and Communications, and collaborating closely with the Associate Director of Enrollment Management Communications and various departments within the division, including Admissions, Financial Aid, the Bursar's Office and the Office of Pre-College Outreach and Engagement. This position works closely with colleagues in Strategic Relations and Communications to develop and deliver coordinated and effective marketing strategies throughout the student journey. The Associate Director also supervises an Assistant Director of Marketing and fosters collaboration with campus partners, colleges, schools and programs to support their marketing efforts aligned with Enrollment Management objectives. Additionally, the Associate Director analyzes campaign data, reports on the effectiveness of marketing efforts and makes recommendations for future academic years. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Strategic Marketing Planning & Implementation:
  • Develop and implement strategic recruitment marketing plans, with the focus on supporting EM goals and objectives for the current academic year.
  • Craft marketing plans that cater to the entire student journey through the units in Enrollment Management, from prospective student to enrollment and beyond, support student success and a consistent experience.
  • Develop and deploy marketing tactics to support and nurture historic and growing markets of prospective undergraduate and graduate students, with the objective of delivering on key conversions and supporting the enrollment goals and priorities for the academic year.
  • With the Director of Marketing and Communication in Enrollment Management, collaborate with the Associate Director of Marketing in Strategic Relations to map out the prospective student journey, define lead qualification processes, and strategize hand-off approaches from Strategic Relations & Communication to Enrollment Management.
  • Create targeted marketing strategies to encourage desired actions within the Admissions, Financial Aid, Bursar's and Precollege Offices for both prospective and current students during the academic year.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the target audiences, considering the unique needs and preferences of both undergraduate and graduate students and their families. Tailor marketing strategies to effectively engage and resonate with each audience.
  • Ensure adherence to brand standards and maintain brand consistency across all marketing materials and initiatives. Serve as a guardian of the CU Boulder brand identity within the Enrollment Management division.
  • Manage day-to-day content development, execution and measurement across a wide range of media using a variety of systems including CRM and content management. Ensure timely and successful execution.
  • Provide strategic marketing planning and support to signature events within Enrollment Management, including but not limited to, Admitted Student Day(s), Discover CU Boulder, and Precollege achievement events.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in Strategic Relations and Communications to align current academic year marketing strategies and tactics with the long-range awareness and lead generation strategies to promote the educational experience at CU Boulder. Coordinate on digital advertising, graphic design, video production, content production, and web development to ensure cohesive marketing campaigns for students and families.
  • Ensure that all print and digital media are fully used and coordinated across all campaigns.
  • Develop awareness and knowledge of inclusive language standard methodologies and principles, and implement them consistently across marketing content.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing, production leads and creative, technical and outside advertising agency colleagues to articulate strategic objectives of enrollment management marketing tactics for the current academic year and to follow the production processes for marketing assets including when and how to communicate feedback and approval.
  • Partner closely with the Associate Director of Enrollment Management Communications to ensure a flawless integration of marketing and communication strategies. Work in tandem to present a unified message and experience to the target audience(s).
  • Implement project management and content development, as needed, in response to fluctuations in staffing levels or heightened demand.
Campus Partner Strategic Marketing Planning & Support:
  • Collaborate and support colleges, schools and programs in their marketing campaigns related to Enrollment Management division activities. Facilitate coordination and alignment of messaging throughout the student lifecycle.
  • Serve as a key strategic resource to college and school partners and help connect the strategic intent of their deliverables to the Enrollment Management marketing deliverables, their colleges goals and industry standard methodologies.
  • Train and support college, school and department colleagues with building and implementing tactics in appropriate systems, including CRM systems, social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Support college, school and department colleagues by evaluating campaign performance as it relates to key conversions, and using data and industry standard processes, recommending how to optimize tactics.
Supervision:
  • Supervise an Assistant Director of Marketing, providing guidance, direction and mentorship. Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Foster a success-oriented and accountable environment that attracts and retains top-notch strategic marketing professionals who are passionate about providing the highest quality of work and nurturing the collaborative relationships that enable the work to be produced.
  • Ensure cross-team collaboration where marketing, communication and EM units align tactics so all efforts work towards successfully and effectively meeting the goals of Enrollment Management.
  • Understand and ensure all established processes, procedures, training programs and systems are followed.
  • Maintain consistent communication to provide guidance, cascade information and be a sounding board for brainstorming and problem solving.
  • Develop annual plans to make sure staff develop new skills and maintain passion and dedication to office priorities.
  • Provide on-going coaching and mentoring to all team members to achieve success and as a cornerstone to career development.
Analysis & Research:
  • Analyze campaign data to assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts. Generate comprehensive reports and insights that inform decision-making for future academic cycles and marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Relations and Office of Data Analytics colleagues to collect student perception data to indentify the impact and effectiveness of EM marketing efforts, to enable optimization, to make recommendations for future academic cycles.
  • Stay current of industry standard methodologies and market trends.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 per year.

What We Require

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, advertising or a related field from an accredited college or university. Appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year for-year basis.
  • Two (2) or more years of increasingly responsible and independent management experience with marketing and communication projects and/or marketing campaigns in a creative/public relations firm, business, academic institution or nonprofit organization, including experience working with a customer relations management (CRM) system.


What You Will Need

  • Extensive skills and experience working with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite products, publishing and web software.
  • Excellent people collaboration and motivation skills which will demonstrate the ability to: think strategically and establish direction, lead and organize a team and follow consistent processes to sustain performance.
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation abilities.
  • Solid understanding of and experience working with a broad spectrum of marketing and communication media, including print, social media, web and other digital technologies.
